By the time I was in high school, I had already imagined taking a "year off" to live in a log cabin by myself and just write. So when I learned that Thoreau had done just that, I was instantly intrigued.

My favorite quote of his is: "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them." I am now working on building my foundations.
